News February 2019

I wish all visitors of my website a happy, healthy and musical 2019! This year I hope to publish my violin method , together with co-author Jaap Kastelein . This violin-method is called " Violin World" (part 1) and will be published by Jaap Kastelein Educatieve Muziek & Media . Hal Leonard Europe will take care of the distribution. The method is highly innovative and written for players from 7 years and is suitable for both individual and group education. The volume of the method is supported by a website. On this website you can find MP3s with follow-up assignments and listening examples, films on which exercises are performed and PDFs of violin and piano accompaniments of all the recital pieces. The method provides a nice balance between auditory learning and sheet playing, between technical development and pleasure by playing, between learning from the traditional book and with the help of modern media.

First the method will be published in Dutch, but translations in English, German and French will follow soon!

The second publication in the new series "Mix & Match for Strings” will be “Easy Classical Collection”

The Mix & Match for Strings makes interplay of strings in all imaginable instrumentations possible.

The smallest instrumentation is that of 4 solo strings up to a large string orchestra with addition of double bass, piano and percussion. In the score 4 obligate parts are indicated, each of which can be played by violin, viola or cello. This means that the pieces can be played in any imaginable combination of string instruments. The set contains 15 individual parts in which all 4 obligate parts are written for each different instrument (violin, viola, cello), supplemented with the 3 additional parts (double bass, piano, percussion).

The Classical Collection is a collection of arrangements of famous classical themes from the 17th to 19th century. I was asked to sit on the jury during the "épreuves de violon" of the music competition in Epinal, France.

This competition for very different orchestral instruments will be held from March 23 through April 20 2011 at the Théâtre Municipal Epinal (F) As many as 68 violinists between 6 and 33 years and a piano quintet by Conservatory students presented on Saturday, April 2 for jury and audience in the beautiful old auditorium and each received a jury assessment. After each level (according to the French system), the jury reports were formally presented to the candidates on the stage of the auditorium, often accompanied by a personal message from one of the jurors. Special about this competition is that it is for all levels: from beginners to very advanced amateurs, and conservatory students. The broadcasting of the Vosges (Vosges Televions) was there and made several recordings and interviews. Below are some impressions of the day:
